Terms of service
The agreement between you and Checkride.io when you use the audit. Plain language; the disclaimer in the footer is the load-bearing piece, and we repeat it below.
Acceptance
By using checkride.io (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
What the Service does
Checkride.io parses a logbook export you provide and audits the parsed flights against the Federal Aviation Regulations and the Airman Certification Standards relevant to the rating you select. The output is a report that flags which line items are met, which are short, and what additional flying is required.
What the Service does not do
The Service is not legal, regulatory, or instructional advice. We do not issue endorsements. We do not certify experience. The DPE conducting your checkride is the final authority on whether your documentation meets the requirements.
Your account
- You must be old enough to legally hold a Student Pilot Certificate for the rating you’re training toward.
- You’re responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account.
- The data you upload must be your own logbook (or a logbook you have authorization to upload, e.g. as a CFI on behalf of a student with their consent).
Acceptable use
- Don’t upload anything that isn’t a logbook export or related training record.
- Don’t scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to access the Service’s internals beyond what the public interface offers.
- Don’t use the Service to misrepresent aeronautical experience to a CFI, DPE, the FAA, an insurer, or an employer.
- Don’t use the Service to harass other users, the team, or third parties referenced in the data.
Your content
You keep ownership of every logbook file and audit result tied to your account. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content back to you for the purpose of operating the Service. If you delete your account or request deletion, that license ends and we delete the underlying data per the Privacy Policy.
Service availability
The Service is in beta. We may add, remove, or change features without notice and may take the Service offline for maintenance. We aim for high availability but do not promise specific uptime numbers.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that audit results will be free of omissions. The audit is a software check against rules we’ve encoded; verifying your aeronautical experience under 14 CFR Part 61 remains your responsibility.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Checkride.io and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost opportunity, or lost data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify us from claims by third parties arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any rights of another.
Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates risk for us, other users, or third parties. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (disclaimer, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Mateo County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Changes to these Terms
We’ll update the “Effective” date above when we make material changes and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
